Madrid will host the seminar on extension of professional active life which will have the participation of various experts in the active aging area, stakeholders and seniors as well.
The ePAL consortium met in London for another internal meeting and workshop with invited experts. The main objective for this meeting was the developments of WP2 (Building the Vision) and the work going on in other two work packages: WP3 (Gap Analysis) and WP4 (Implementation Models). Regarding WP2 a considerable work was done in order to tune some work on the scenarios and key drivers as well as defining entities and working terms and concepts. The WP3 was essentially devoted to the methodology that ePAL should take and the in the WP4 it was discussed the different types of market and clients as well as the potential stakeholders. The workshop was held on two afternoons. The first part focused on the social and economic areas with presentations from Martin Suenson from Dinossaur Exchange, Professor Harry Gray and Andrea Baron from Age Concern. The second day was dedicated to technical knowledge analysis with the participation of Nadia Berthouze an expert in affective computing; Pietro Panzarasa in the area of the network science and finally Vesna Brujic that presented Web 2.0 technologies. Experts brought to consortium some ideas and different visions of the ePAL concept what was extremely interesting to take in consideration.

ePAL partners met in Maastricht to review work and research carried out for the first deliverable of WP1 (Baseline Consolidation) and also to carry on with the work started in WP2 (Building the Vision) and WP5 (Community Building and Dissemination). Being at its final stage, the deliverable from WP1 focuses essentially on the study made to 29 organizations working on the active aging domain and also on the state-of-the art in research on related issues. The started WP2 was in this meeting further developed and some achievements were accomplished such as what should be the key drivers, how to build a good scenario and what kind of entities ePAL is focusing on and what we can benefit from the expertise of each entity. During this meeting ePAL consortium had the chance to host one expert in the socio-economic area (Drs. J. M. J. Severijns - Limburg Provence) and other two experts in the technological fields (Henriette Cramer and Maarten van Someren - University of Amsterdam). Experts contributed with presentations and participated in the consortium discussions about the vision and needs.
Porto, Portugal - 23rd-25th June 2008 - 8th IFIP International Conference on Information Technology for Balanced Automation Systems
www.basysconference.org
A major event in the area of emerging information technologies and automation in manufacturing and services, held in Porto.
The ePAL consortium met in Seville to review work and research carried out for the WP1 stage of the project. Partners reported back on information gathered on "active aging" networks and introduced relevant strands of research such as ICT and behavioural modelling. Priorities and objectives were established for proceeding to the WP2 stage ("Building The Vision") of the project; how best to capture the key drivers of change and record positive and negative trends within the active aging field. Further to Partners' presentations, the structure for a consolidated and integrated baseline was agreed upon.
Porto saw the inaugural event for the ePAL project. The Partner organisations making up the ePAL consortium met to establish priorities and coordinate efforts to achieving a comprehensive baseline and landscape of present initiatives in the field of "active aging". This meeting saw the initiation of the WP1 stage of the project and presented the chance for Partners to establish a coordinated view of how the project should progress in the future.
